Claude Code: hand over a whole job, even without coding

In short

Claude Code is the environment where Claude works on a folder on your computer or in the cloud: it reads files, edits them, tests the result and fixes itself.
No coding needed: besides sites and apps it produces documents, spreadsheets, presentations, analyses and automations.
It works best when you prepare the environment: a tidy folder, CLAUDE.md, skills and the right permissions. Then you give it the goal, not the steps.
It’s included in the Claude subscription from the Pro plan.

Why I think it’s the most complete

A chat answers you; Claude Code takes a job all the way to delivery. It works on your files instead of making you paste pieces into a conversation, uses tools, opens the browser to check the result and keeps track of what it did. It uses Claude models, currently top of the rankings for code and long tasks.

The practical change is this: you can work on the project, not in pieces. To update a proposal, the agent finds the previous quote, compares it with the price list and edits the draft.

The folder is part of the request

Start from a folder dedicated to the task, with originals separate from outputs and the authoritative document easy to spot. A good example (an approved presentation, a report that worked) helps more than a long description of what you mean by “professional”.

Instructions, memory, skills and plugins

CLAUDE.md is a file of stable instructions: how you write, which format you deliver, which price list to use. Keep it short and checkable.
Auto memory collects notes during the work: reread it now and then and fix what has aged.
A skill is a reusable procedure, loaded when needed. When a job goes well, ask Claude to turn it into a skill and test it on a second case.
Plugins and connectors (MCP too) add tools and access to external services. Connect only what you need.

A simple method for your first task

Prepare the folder with the right material and one example.
Write the goal, the audience and what “done” means.
Ask for a plan first (that’s what planning mode is for) and correct it.
Let the agent work: it produces and checks.
Open the files and verify important figures at the source.
If it worked, have it turned into a skill.

Permissions

Claude Code works on your files: decide what it may edit, run and send without asking. For irreversible actions (publishing, sending, deleting) keep approval on.

Scheduled tasks and ongoing projects

Claude Code can run tasks on a schedule and carry projects on in the cloud, even with your computer off. That’s the step that brings it close to 24/7 agents: a report that updates every Monday, a periodic check of your documents.

The alternatives

Codex (OpenAI), Google Antigravity and Cursor do similar jobs. If you already work well with one of them, there’s no need to switch for the name alone: try the same task with similar material and choose by the result.
